Best Beaches in North Goa

I've been to all of these more times than I can count. Here's the honest version.

Baga Beach

PartyWater Sports

The heart of Goa's party scene. It's crowded, it's commercial, and honestly? It's still a great time. The nightlife on Tito's Lane is legendary for a reason.

Crowd Level:High
Best For:Party-goers, groups, first-timers who want energy
My Tip:Go to the beach in the morning when it's quiet. Save Tito's Lane for after 11 PM — that's when it really gets going.

Calangute Beach

Tourist HubShopping

Called the "Queen of Beaches" — I'd call it the "Queen of Crowds." Honestly overhyped, but the shopping and food options nearby are decent.

Crowd Level:Very High
Best For:First-time visitors who want convenience
My Tip:If you must go, go at sunrise. By 10 AM it's a zoo. Candolim next door is the same beach with half the people.

Anjuna Beach

BohemianFlea Market

The hippie heart of Goa. The Wednesday flea market is a must, and Curlies beach bar is where I take every friend who visits. Sunset drinks here are unbeatable.

Crowd Level:Medium
Best For:Backpackers, bohemian souls, market lovers
My Tip:Wednesday flea market is the main event. Get there by 4 PM for the best stuff. Curlies at sunset — order a cold beer and don't move.

Vagator Beach

ScenicChill

My personal favorite in North Goa. The red cliffs are dramatic, Little Vagator is intimate, and Chapora Fort sunset is peak Goa. This is where the "Dil Chahta Hai" fort scene was filmed.

Crowd Level:Medium
Best For:Photographers, couples, anyone who appreciates a view
My Tip:Walk up to Chapora Fort 30 minutes before sunset. Find the Shiva face carving at the north end of the beach — it's hidden but worth the hunt.

Arambol Beach

SpiritualAlternative

The most alternative beach in Goa. Drum circles at sunset, yoga at sunrise, and a sweet water lake hidden in the cliffs. This is where people come for a week and stay a month.

Crowd Level:Low-Medium
Best For:Digital nomads, spiritual seekers, long-stayers
My Tip:The sunset drum circle is a genuine experience — don't miss it. Hike to Sweet Water Lake for the morning. Bring a journal.

Candolim Beach

RelaxedUpscale

My recommendation over Calangute every time. Same stretch of sand, but cleaner, quieter, with better restaurants. This is where the locals who live in North Goa actually go.

Crowd Level:Medium
Best For:Couples, families, people who want Baga's convenience without Baga's chaos
My Tip:Fort Aguada is a 10-minute walk south — go for the views. Great for morning jogs along the waterline.
